Perfect Wedding Shoes

Finding wedding shoes is one of the last things that a bride thinks about. But, it should actually be one of the first. Right after the wedding dress, the wedding shoes will be the one thing that affect you the whole day since you will be wearing them all day. Plenty of brides wait until the last minute to find their shoes and end up with ones that are not comfortable or to their liking. Here are my top ten tips for finding the right bridal shoes for your wedding day:

Tip #1: Start looking early. The first tip is to shop around early. Do not wait until the last minute. Think about what you want and start looking online and in stores for the perfect pair.

Tip #2: Determine your criteria. Decide on all of the major criteria including – heel height, color, style. These are the things that will help you narrow down your search. The heel height is most important because it affects your dress alterations. The color and style are based on personal preference.

Tip #3: Throw out wedding conventions. These are your shoes and this is your day. If you want to wear purple or red, orĀ silver wedding shoes, go for it! Whatever makes you happy and whatever makes you feel beautiful.

Tip #4: Consider buying a designer pair. Many people will tell you that designer wedding shoes are not worth it. However, the designer shoe is usually made with better, more comfortable material which will provide structure and comfort to your feet. Additionally, they have longer lasting styles that will allow you to wear the shoe to other parties and other special occasions. So, consider splurging and buying a pair of designer shoes – Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo, Vera Wang all make great ones.

Tip #5: Look in your girlfriends’ closet. Why not have these be the something borrowed on your big day? Look in your girlfriends’ closets. They may have some great formal shoes that can be used for your dress. It will save you money and give you your “borrowed” item.

Tip #6: Try on the shoes and wear them around all day Many brides forget that you will wear them all day, for more than 12 hours sometimes. Try them on and make sure they are comfortable. Not just comfortable for 5 minutes, but comfortable all day, standing, dancing, walking.

Tip #7: Buy shoe pads. Consider buying pads to help your feet feel more comfortable. Foot petals make more than a dozen different types of pads and inserts that provide additional comfort for different parts of your feet.

Tip #8: Buy flip flops. Since you will be wearing the shoes all day, consider buying a pair of wedding flip flop to change into towards the end of the night. After the ceremony and the first dance, nobody will really be looking down at your feet. Consider bridal flip flops to save your feet on your honeymoon.

Tip #9: Buy multiple pairs. Whether you are shopping online or in the store, buy multiple shoes and try them on when you get your dress. Then, return the pair you do not choose. Having multiple wedding shoes will ease your worries since you will have a few to choose from.
